What is love?

What is love?
asked the skeptic to a believer
does it ever happen
between 2 or many
sexually or not
or not at all
we assume it does
presenting itself in colors of red
and all.

Now believer thought
It’s a tough one to ask
The reasons for the feeling
that makes, breaks hearts
Families, friendships and businesses at large.

Perhaps its something
like giving freedom of thought,
speech, dress, show of skin
not take offence
when you see what you see
or hear what you hear
perhaps it is the understanding
forgiveness
patience
tolerance
to different people,
different thoughts
different actions
perceived by one as logical, natural
by the other as not.

Yet, to make light of it,
and keep the relationship
ahead of the wrongs and rights,
That my friend is Love
He said.
A four letter word
that makes bonds
between living
non-living
between you, the earth and sky and the
person inside and outside.

That my friend is Love, your own to give, share and care.
Any more thoughts he said, you are welcome to share,
leaving the cynic with a thoughtful stare.
